A professional caregiver recruited by Smartmaids Group

The caregiver role

A home caregiver helps an older or dependent person with daily life at home, so they can stay comfortable, safe and as independent as possible. Patience, kindness and reliability matter as much as experience.

This is a non-medical role. Caregivers are not nurses. Where an employer needs a caregiver with specific training or certificates, we match candidates who hold them.

Typical caregiver duties

  • Help with daily routines: getting up, dressing and personal hygiene
  • Support with moving around the home and short outings
  • Preparing meals and helping at mealtimes
  • Reminders to take medication as directed by the family or doctor
  • Companionship, conversation and activities
  • Keeping the person’s room and belongings clean and tidy
